Metal, Crystal and Gas form the foundation to the entire game and are necessary for progression in the game.
All three resources are used in the construction and upgrade of buildings, construction of ships and also research.
Gas is also required for travel and for operating The EU-X radar array.
Resources can be obtained in a number of ways:
- Building resource producing units (Metal Mine, Crystal Mine, Gas Mine)
- Sending Cargo Ships to the Mysterious Nebula
- Attacking other players
- Attacking NPC Planets
- Buying resource containers with Dark Matter
- Completing particular Introductory Missions
- Persuading an alliance member to send you some
- Collecting battlefield debris with Recyclers
